Carla Leone, Ph.D.

Dr. Leone is the founder and director of North Suburban Family Psychologists. She received her Ph.D. from Loyola University Chicago in 1990, and has over 30 years experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families in private practice and community mental health agencies. As a therapist she strives to foster a safe space and supportive connection with each individual that allows them to thoughtfully reflect on their feelings, needs, goals, histories and relationship patterns and gradually make positive changes.
Dr. Leone is on the faculty of the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute and the Institute for Clinical Social Work in Chicago, where she primarily teaches courses on couple therapy. She is on the executive board of the International Association for Psychoanalytic Self Psychology (IAPSP) and co-founded its Couples Therapy Interest Group. She has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals, some of which have been reprinted as book chapters and translated into other languages, and has lectured and presented extensively on couple and family therapy and related topics.
