Couples Therapy

Our approach to couples therapy is to help partners learn to understand and better meet each other’s emotional needs, including needs for security, understanding, closeness, independence, nurturance, and emotional and sexual connection. We incorporate the research-based work of John Gottman and Susan Johnson into an emotion and insight-oriented model designed to help partners better resolve or manage conflict and feel more connected. Particular areas of expertise with couples include:
  • High conflict couples
  • Couples in which one or both partners have ADD or ADHD
  • Couples in which one or both partners are survivors of trauma or abuse
  • Infidelity
  • Sexual difficulties
